A Persons Past is not Their Future

Hi...

I know... I'm horrible at posting. It's been duely noted.  Someday I'll get better, I promise.  Anywhoo, I am in the mood to write tonight so here I am.  I met a new acquiantence the past week at Starbucks (where I have been studying for my CPA exams).  This person is also an accountant and we have had a few conversations about accounting over the past week. However, tonight he we went way off the topic of accounting.  He just found out his boyfriend tested positive for HIV.  He didn't really have anyone to discuss this with so he came to me.

The first thing that struck me during our conversation was his composure.  He teared up once or twice, but never cried.  He also spent little time talking about the fact that he might be HIV positive, and more time talking about the support he needed to give his boyfriend.  It made me quite happy to tell you the truth.  So often people only look out for their short term and never take the time to look out for their long term. He asked me during our talk if I would stay with someone who was positive.  Without pause I told him yes.

I find it very disheartening that we look at somones past to define the future we may have with someone.

Where has the time gone!

Ooops... At this rate I'll have accomplished three posts by the end of the year!

Life has been super busy these past few months... so much has changed! Let's list them out!
-I've moved! (Love living in the heart of Dallas!)
-Started a new job (Love the paychecks :))
-Taken the first of four CPA exams. (Mostly by force)
-Best friend found out she was accepted to the peace corps. (Leaves for Ukraine in two weeks)

It's crazy to me to see how much has happened in so little time.  I feel like college was such a long time ago, but I'm really just 3 months removed from OU.

Now that I finally have internet (thanks to Kevo) and am slowly getting a steady schedule I am making a committment to post more! The next few posts are going to be spent reflecting on all the new changes in my life... but for now that's all!

Stay Happy Friends!

New Adventures

IT'S TAKE OFF TIME!! In more ways than one...

First, I just finished my last semester at OU and am moving to Dallas to start an exciting career in TAX (sarcasm intended)!
Second, I have been inspired by my friend Lydia (and strangely enough Janay) to start a blog.  It's probably the furthest thing away from what most would expect from me! Guess that's why I'm doing it...

Here is me in a nutshell:
The least creative of my friends.
Private about much of my personal life
Unsure about much of the future
--Sounds like the recipe for SUPERB blog, RIGHT?!?!

Here are my goals:
Use my friends to become better--
To open up and learn more about myself

Over the course of this blog I hope to achieve a few basic goals... put in writing so many thoughts and for the first time create an outlet to express myself. Also putting showing how much I really care about the peeps in my life!!
