Hi...
I know... I'm horrible at posting. It's been duely noted. Someday I'll get better, I promise. Anywhoo, I am in the mood to write tonight so here I am. I met a new acquiantence the past week at Starbucks (where I have been studying for my CPA exams). This person is also an accountant and we have had a few conversations about accounting over the past week. However, tonight he we went way off the topic of accounting. He just found out his boyfriend tested positive for HIV. He didn't really have anyone to discuss this with so he came to me.
The first thing that struck me during our conversation was his composure. He teared up once or twice, but never cried. He also spent little time talking about the fact that he might be HIV positive, and more time talking about the support he needed to give his boyfriend. It made me quite happy to tell you the truth. So often people only look out for their short term and never take the time to look out for their long term. He asked me during our talk if I would stay with someone who was positive. Without pause I told him yes.
I find it very disheartening that we look at somones past to define the future we may have with someone.
